Thank fuck. For all the talent he might have had, I'm fucking sick of that shit.
edit: it's sad he died, ofcourse. And that bit where he pokes fun at himself is amusing, at least. I just get instant diarrhoea from hearing that dreadfully bland trailer-voiceover crap.
I'm sure there are 20-30 gravely voiced people waiting to jump in and take over. They may not ever be able to impersonate him perfectly without going through exactly what he did but it will be close enough.
He'll be missed and mourned, but I'm with pea I hope the tradition dies with him.
Pea - although the trailer crap is always repetitive, his voice was always soothing, imo. If you have a shitty voice in a trailer, the viewer will not relate/connect. Don was great in that even though the words he spoke in the trailers were crap, it was still interesting to hear.
i have to admit that i'm not a fan of the people who wrote the trailer scripts. but i REALLY loved the way he would voice them. I loved him on Free Radio.
although i tend to like trailers more where they speek for themselves....just clips from the movie....and maybe a few brief words in between. usually speaks more than a voiceover can.

[oops, just noticed you had Doug instead of Don]
