just curious how often anyone gets a normal, AO, height map etc.. that doesn't require any touch ups, and when you do touch up, where do you draw the line between a complete re-render and trying to save it in ps?
Totally depends. Once I know how to render efficiently, it doesn't take long to fix the cages and/or meshes and re-bake. If it's taking longer to re-touch than to adjust and re-render, then that's too much.
But in general I almost never get a bake that doesn't require some touchups, it's like any other kind of render... 2D fixes are usually much faster than re-rendering.
