I know, slightly vague title but I din't know what to call it.
OK, so I'm working on a game level (for Zero Gear) built in Max 7.
I've got all the basics laid out but this is a new area for me. I've used quite a few level editors and made maps for several games.
I am used to game flyby mode. aka : WASD to get around my level and see what I'm doing.
I'd love to be able to get around max that way, don't know if it's possible.
The issues I have basically are getting up close and seeing what's going on.
If I use perspective view I can rotate more acurately but stuff in back renders on top of stuff in front, so nothing looks right.
If I use USER view I can get in close and things render right but rotating always spins me out far away. I can't get the camera where I want it.
I'm used to doing props that are easy to work around. Now I'm trying to do a tunnel and I just can't get inside it, see what's going on and control the camera like I want. Very frustrating.
I just increased the size of the entire map about 10x hopeing it would help me get in close, and maybe it did somewhat but the same issues are still there.
Any ideas?

Use WASD to navigate.
I think it's still gonna be tough to work with the inside of my tunnel but I can navigate it better now.
I found that through this link
http://fosters.realmwarsgame.com/tools/3DS%20Max%207%20Primer%20for%20Torque.pdf
which also pointed out turbo_smooth and better yet the paint deform modifier, I'm already loving that just screwing around for 10 minutes
