Try this-
Close the autorun prompt when you insert the disk.
Browse to the CD and look for the setup.exe file.
With pointer over the setup.exe file right click and then left click Run as Administrator. Then it should give you the warning of incompatibility.
Click Run Program. You should be able to install Quake4.
ah yeah I remember this problem too, the autorun was buggered but i installed it by navigating onto the disk and running setup. that solution worked for me too
btw if you do get it running... it was crap! compared to quake2 ... I played it recently and the whole deal was crummy. quake 2 was more quake 2! quake 4 was just not what it could have been
Quake 4 was alright. Mind you, I had to switch my brain off, and I was drunk for practically the entire thing, so it's not exactly as if I'm showering it in praise.
Fair enough, I went into it with expectations of a sequel to Quake 2, and had to let go of those along the way. Quake Wars always looked a lot more true to Quake 2, I thought.

1. Download Unbuntu Linux
2. Dowload Linux Installer for Quake4
3. Fixed two problems at once
will try that thanks rooster. When I run the quake install menu comes up but then it just cuts out back to the desktop, no error messages
its just got shortcut to desktop.ini.
bizarre. the disc does read as 2.70 GB though
I am not much of a hard core gamer though:)
Seems like vista just doesn't like the whole deal, even got a BSOD
Intsalls fine on xp and doom3 runs on vista too!!
