Wow there are limits to the human body... who woulda thought.
Actually dislocations are more freaky quirks in the way your joints move than 'limits'. He's surely lifted this amount before, and i'm sure plenty of competitors, both stronger and weaker, have too.
He didn't break any bones, at worst he tore some ligaments. It's a really painful thing to have happen, but he should be competing just fine in the next olympics easily, and will probably be back into world class weightlifting next year at the latest.
Poor guy. We train snatch in the gym, and it can be a scary lift. Throwing all that weight over your head, tons of things can go wrong. He was pretty lucky that bar didn't fall on him in a worse spot. Could have killed him.
In high school we were in the weight room. An acquaintance of mine was trying to power-clean more than he should have (especially with no spotter). He fell back and the weight landed on his arm, breaking it. He was OK later on, thankfully, but I'm sure he'll be a little more conservative in his lifting from now on.
Hahah, the best is the announcer saying lets not see it again and then the people trying to hide the guy. Meanwhile the replay's are showing it in slow mo from every angle.. Isnt tv awesome....

haha I know I was laughing my ass off at that. ridiculous
Ha, i was expecting something worse. I'm laughing at how casual the announcer detailed the accident, and then China's "nothing to see here" people step in after the fact.
Ther slow-mo where you can see the bone pop out and then see his arm just snap back and wobble on his way down... *shudders*
But the NTSH crew was pretty funny.

Its was no freak accident. if you put 170kgs on one of you joints pushing it in the wrong direction, your fucked. His elbow was too far in, if your gonna try lift that much weight with dangerous form you deserve the consequences. The guy was rolling the dice. every lift is potentially deadly at these weights, you gotta take its serious every time. Thats just my experience.

Dude is competing in the Olympics. I'm sure he takes his lifts as seriously as you do, and unless your experience includes lifting for the New Zealand national team, I think he's got that one covered too. Sometimes, shit just happens.
There aren't really very many injuries, at all, in this level of weightlifting. It's less common than football or anything.
I dont know if thats the case. But there are a lot less variables going on than in football, its always the same movement. And people are extremely careful for the most part when lifting this kind of weight, because if your not, this is the type of injury you can receive.
@ vermillion: Yea this guy is way more serious about lifting weights than I am. Maybe he wasn't negligent, but the lift was certainly dangerous IMO. But Im too much of a pussy to go back and analyze it further lol.
However this was not the most horrific part of the weightlifting this year. Anyone else see the female lifter that looked like deuce bigalow? eastern european women for the fail.
You know what... I can take gory violence, even if its real or fake... but I'm telling you, when I see anything break (and especially like that) I can't take it...
It sucks cause you can see his arm starting to give, and its like a couple of seconds before it just breaks, aug.

Poor guy.
I gotta say though, the little squad of view blockers that came out gave me a chuckle.

Poor dude, the attempts to censor the accident vs the slowmo replays and the commentators were hilarious though.
But the NTSH crew was pretty funny.
