bloody awesome, I spent hours and hours on the NES version when I was a lill' noob, playing the rearmed version was like falling back in noobhood, but with updated gameplay and graphics, much more than a simple remake !!
Heck yeah! Played some this morning before going to the doctor(no more stitches!). Then I packed it up on my mem card and took it to work to play during lunch. 2player co-op is sweet, too. When the screen splits it's a little weird, but too much fun being had to dislike it.
Love it so far, easily one of the best "remakes" in a long time. It's a shame I'm not feeling any anticipation for the new one even with the lure of Patton.
yeah it's gonna be on steam and apparently they explain the +5$ by some extra levels that are PC exclusive.
sad that it's not live coop, but well...awesomeness so far
Man, i remember playing this on a computer way back, it wasn't a zx, amiga, i'm thinking acorn, but i don't think it was that. I cannae remember. It was awesome though.
Serious Fun! I downloaded this last night on the PSN (japan)... I was really expecting to be let down, but it seems to pack in just the right amount of humor/gameply to keep me wanting more. I can't wait to buy the full version and get back in the fight!
The controls are pretty awkward, though awkward in a fashion that I want to keep trying so that I can get my brain around them. It's plenty of fun, but I do wonder what the game would have been like if they'd gone for a more modern control scheme though.
Holy crap this looks awesome, the trailer gave me chills.
I bought the PC version from Direct 2 Disk, and goddam copy protection won't let me activate it online. I got some manual activation key, and that doesn't work either. So of course I'm waiting for a reply from customer support.
Crap like this is enough to give me a stroke....I just wanna play the damn game, instead I have to go through an endless loop of support pages just to open a "support ticket", then wait for a response - and I'm sure it will be a one sentence response like "please disable your firewall".
Game looks sweet - hopefully I'll get to play it soon....
Heh, that's the main reason I haven't tried to get it on d2d or gamergate (the apparently-draconian drm). Well, that and the fact that I don't particularly care to sign up for /another/ service. Anyone had any good experience with gamergate?
I bought it from gamersgate, no problems at all. Took me like a minute to register and then buy it and the download was very fast, like 5mbit/s or so, no problems installing either.
Awesome remake... Top knotch artwork/gameplay/sound. 2.5D looks spectacular. Love the menu design. A few different versions of the hacking mini-games would have been great. Pretty difficult overall....Last few levels!!... uggg.
I was annoyed it wasn't on Steam (especially with the last minute "announcement" on the capcom forums), and was gonna pass on it, but decided yesterday to pick it up on the capcom estore. And NORTH AMERICA ONLY.
Guess I'll save the $15 and get Braid when it hits PC.
Oh god, this game is too difficult.. who even makes a platform game where you can't jump. gosh. it's like.. incoming fire! jump jump.. why arent you jumping?
I loved this game back in the day but for some reason I'm on the fence now... mainly because I'm trying to save $ for Castle Crashers and RB songs, but it's sounding really good...still haven't got braid yet either.

Its like 100 times easier then the NES version I think the difficulty is just right for this one.
First, this was one of my all-time favorites back on the NES and I couldn't be happier to get an update of it. With that said, and having played it quite a bit, I like some of the changes and dislike others. I really do appreciate the new visuals, extra challenges, added secrets, trickier bosses, and no need to equip things before each stage (so you can switch firearms on the fly and you know you always have the right communicator). On the other hand, while I like the challage in istelf, I don't like the exclusion of gaining more life bars by picking up the "bullet" drops when you kill enemies. It beefed up your character and gave you a better incentive to go out of your way to kill all the baddies. Of course to compensate for this you can save and you can also continue infinitely.
The VR challenges are great at first. I was doing my best to get 5 star ratings in everything. But by the late 40's I pretty much got too frustrated to keep trying. I guess that's niether bad nor good since it's totally new and optional, but I wish the fun wasn't sucked out of them. I would rather keep going for a better score then just pull my hair out trying to beat one at all.
Overall, I'd say that since Castlevania SOTN was just a port and not a remake, this is my favorite Live Arcade purchase and worth every penny.

One word: 'ROFL!'
Bah, still gotta wait a day before it hits. Anyone know if it'll be available on steam?
