Freelance-to-Paid 2D/3D/Concept For Tactics Game

Hello!

The Position

We are developing a turn-based strategy game (a la Final Fantasy Tactics) via the XNA/C# platform for the Xbox360/PC.

We have completed the Level Editor, and now are moving forward into large-scale character/item model/texture creation.

Currently, monetary compensation is unavailable, but once the game is being sold on the Xbox Live Community Games download, either flat hourly fee or profit percentage will be on the table. As this is such a small team, compensation will be considerable.

The other reason that I believe this is a position worth looking in to is the creative freedom it offers. Our team functions as a democracy - no one member has veto rights, or the absolute word on anything.

The Game

Our project is Animus: Tactics

It is a hex-tile-based tactics game that can be boiled down to Magicians vs. Robots. It also takes place on another planet, which removes the monkey of historical accuracy from the artist's back.

The game, to us, is very exciting because it takes a relatively unexplored genre and innovates it. The interaction and differences between the two types of characters gives a chance for not only unique dialogue and character development, but also innovative art direction.

Instead of a traditional level-up system, the game works on a taught/learned technique system to develop characters. In this way, every character is developed based on in-game choices, which allows for infinitely different characters.

As avid chess-players, the team wanted to add a chess-like feel to the gameplay. As such, character's bodies don't have to physically hold influence to dominate tiles. Robots and mechanics can lay traps, mages can lay spells triggered when a character or object moves over the affected area, and much more.

We feel like this is an exciting opportunity, and as such, have high expectations for potential artists. Anyone who feels they can contribute should apply, and we will take every applicant seriously.

More design details are available upon request.

I hope to hear from you. As we are switching email applications, replies here and PM's would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,
