With the announcement of D3 I was inspired and took a little time messing around in max, its more like Diablo 2.5 since its somewhere in between the style of the previous games and the 3rd installment. Anyhow, crits welcome, and yes I know the gold needs fixing and there are some unfinished assets.

As well, I assume your lighting is a separate WIP?
All of it is separate, each part is its own file, this is just a big bunch of xrefs to make up a scene. Advice on the lighting would be great as well. By different material highlights I assume you mean bringing certain parts forward using lighter or darker materials? Currently there is no specular or normals in there since I intended it to be in keeping with the specs they seem to be using for D3.
I have no idea, looking at the screens it would seem not, either that or they are extremely subtle/only used on certain pieces which is probably more likely?
I will mess around with putting some normal and specular maps into this I think, it would bring it to life a bit more, as for the no focal point, I am messing around with a character and some enemies to also make it a little more interesting and give it some focus.
My only critique so far (with a grain of salt) would be you have some super black areas with the lighting at the moment, specifically the top-left and right. As you move to finalize the lighting, I'd keep in mind the ambient light level, and keep it above pure black, perhaps some color contrast between the areas you want to highlight vs the areas that are "fall-off". Here's the closest example I could find in a D3 screenshot:

Notice it's still pretty dark, but not pure black, and the "black" areas are heavily saturated with blue-green to make it feel dark & gloomy but still allowing the player to see what's going on.
Looks likes quite the righteous scene, the texturing has the Blizzard feel going (same thoughts regarding specularity), I totally thought it was the church from Diablo 1 at first glance.
Crits:
You could push the lighting, toss some more lighter blue/purple into the darker areas. Making it more player friendly and dynamic. But all things considered, great stuff!
though. I'd been daydreaming about doing the same thing since seeing the D3 footage

If its setup, can we see it ?
Demon for the position of enemy, pretty much done aside from giving him a weapon and some small rigging adjustments.
