so i'm doing this contract which involves me working with 3dsmax, which i know very little of, i've got all the basics down, but there are a couple things i'm not quite getting.
what should i be keyframing? i'm not able to set any keys using the set key mode when trying to use it on the biped, nor am i able to adjust any of the in/out tangents.
using max08

OR use the set key button in the biped "Key Info" rollout. Its the red button above "+TCB"
OR copy paste a pose.
As for the tangents it has its own method using the workbench. Once you pull up the workbench you'll see a curve editor looking interface, you can right click any of those keys and it brings up a in/out menu floater use that to adjust the curves.
OR switch it from Quaternion to Euler, this will give you much more flexibility over the curves, probably more like you're used to. However because of the planted key system hands and feet still use Quaternion. If your version of biped doesn't have the Quaternion/Euler rollout then it was included in newer versions. I think it was in v8-9 but I could be wrong...
One other handy thing that gets overlooked is under Modes and Display, turn on Trajectories, looks like a squiggly line. It's kind of a visual curve and really helps get the timing and motion right.
thanks vig, much help!
This isn't a good idea with Biped in Max 8. Biped tends to break very easily in Euler mode so I'd stay away from it.
As such a feature, I'm sure they could create a true conversion but won't.
One more thing that makes life with biped easier, is the worker of biped script. fuckin awesome script, saves so much time.
