I felt like the art was too buried, so I made sections to highlight Environment/3D/2D work. Also got rid of the tiny thumbs. Made a list of all the games I worked on. Added a summary on the first page. No more html resume, only PDF.
Working on more art to add. Need to show I can do Zbrush work, highpoly subd, etc.
Looking for feedback! Anything broken or weird or missing?
The only weirdness I encountered as when I clicked games, it did THIS.
I was in full screen mode (firefox 19.0.2) and when I switched to windowed mode it lined up like the other pages did.
Also your pages always align left which is probably personal preference? I tend to prefer center alignment with a locked width.
It looks good on my phone too, the larger images really help on the tiny screen.
I was trying to use your name in the upper left as a "go to home" page but kept hitting the "contact" email which was kind of annoying, but most people won't be using a phone, maybe a tablet but most often a regular workstation. You might want to show it to someone on a phone or tablet so might be worth pushing some things around making it easier to navigate by touch.
Also on my phone, when I clicked the 3D models page, the header and constant buttons shifted and became a little smaller, I think that is because there are some really wide images on that page and the browser is zooming out and resizing to fit it all in?
TL-DR
Defining a width and sticking within it will avoid some problems, especially on smaller devices.
If you need extra wide images, maybe use a really big thumbnail (that constrains to the width requirement)?
My personal preference would be to center align everything.
Looking great, good improvements and good looking art. :thumbup:
Eric, you have very nice portfolio and amazing skills! The only thing that I noticed, I was using iPad to view your portfolio and there's no videos showing, just an empty spot.
Looks great, I like the new layout. One thing though, center that shit! On widescreen monitors it is really annoying to have to turn your head to the left to look at stuff, especially for the smaller images.
OK, I'm going to make some of these improvements. Centering, etc.
Working right now on integrating a HTML5 video player, one that works with iOS, phones, etc. Found a good one called video.js, for those who are interested. Pretty nice setup, easy to mod too.
Thanks! I suppose you mean the tips. I learned this trick from the Chinese artists we worked with on the MMO project. They were superb at making foliage, very nice stuff. This is all just vertex color. It's easy to adjust "live" in Max, and it renders down nicely.
I found how to remove the shadow acne in UDK, which makes the grass "in-game" shots look worse than they should. So, new shots needed.
OK, I made some changes. The site is centered now. Large images are now scaled to match the site width, and there's a zoom icon to let you know you can click on them for the big one. Still working on the videos.
OK, I figured out the bugs with HTML5 video. All the videos on my site are now HTML5, so they should show a poster frame, and should play when clicked.
Could I trouble you to click on a few of them and let me know what happens?

For the videos I added download links, also in case people have a script blocker. Do those links work?
i use them on my folio to show video with either an mp4, ogg or webm file. that way it works on every device.
this is the tag,
<video width="360" height="240" controls>
<source src="blabla.mp4" type="video/mp4">
<source src="blabla.ogg" type="video/ogg">
<source src="blabla.webm" type="video/webm">
</video>
great folio btw. i might follow suit and post my recent revamped folio for some feedback...if i dare :X

Any chance we can see a closer view of the high poly Wheat?

I would love any feedback about what works or doesn't work, and what platform you tested on (Win7/Firefox, iPad/Safari, etc.)
Win7/Firefox19 = Only 2 and 4 will play.
Win7/IE9 = I can play all of them.
Win7/Chrome25 = All play except #3.

Win7/Firefox19 = #5 plays, #6 doesn't.
Win7/IE9 = both play.
Win7/Chrome25 = #5 plays, #6 doesn't.
bah!
