Has anyone gotten to play this? It looks like you have to be a fileplanet subscriber to play
I liked the previous games, but I wanted to bludgeon someone when I figured out that for some reason Red Faction II had bot-only multiplayer... wtf??? The gameplay video I saw looked pretty boring, other than using a sledge hammer on people's bodies, but I'm hoping this will be a fun distraction multiplayer game.

Are you on something? Like... mind altering drugs?
I agree with the whole color issue, however i do enjoy the main character's jacket.
Sledehammers look fun, but my major issue is that at this point in time, it looks like you can't blow holes in the ground. Not even just craters, judging on what i've seen.
Which is kinda what the whole big deal with the first two was.
It just seems kinda weird that they wouldn't have it
I really enjoyed the first game, even if their totally destructible terrain engine was barely utilized. However I really disliked the second game.
The structure physics they're applying seem interesting, although I hope there are still some interesting looking buildings, I fear that since they have to make it as though it could actually stand in real world physics they'll just end up with plain looking buildings that were only designed to stand, not to look pretty.
Just because your on mars does not mean that you have to keep all colors in the red/brown range.
I'm not allowed to say much about it since A) I'm working on it, so would be considered biased and I'm still under NDA.
However, the Beta doesn't have the full destruction engine due to bandwidth limitations, although there is talk of getting more of the engine into multiplayer before release. I can assure you that the destruction in the single player campaign is pretty bloody impressive, and after 3 years on the project I still have fun driveing through a building in a large mining or military vehicle, especially when it falls off a cliff afterwards.
Still, I know it's not going to be to everyone's cup of tea, but I would recommend playing a few rounds if you play at all - Mostly because some rounds go with almost no destruction occuring in a way that changes the game, and it seems like any other shooter, and then suddenly you're playing a round where the map is drastically changing while you play, and you suddenly get what it's all about.
It does rather suck if you can only get it via subscription though.
