Can't wait!
It's looking fantastic.
Also note the PS3 version will actually look better due to more storage! (better than the 360 version, that is)
id's post-apocalyptic open-world shooter Rage (PC, PS3, 360, Mac) will look worse on Xbox 360 due to the compression needed to fit the game's assets on two DVDs, programmer John Carmack revealed at tonight's QuakeCon keynote.
According to Carmack, the royalty fees to include a third disc in the Xbox 360 version would be so high that it simply isn't a feasible solution, with the programmer hoping for Microsoft to make a concession. He stressed that the issue is merely a storage problem and has nothing to do with the power of the Xbox 360 hardware, while adding that the PlayStation 3's Blu-ray format is Sony's one leg up on the competition.
Of course, I'll be buying this on PC. :poly108:

Of course, this can all change now MS allow games to be installed to the HDD. In other words, the 360 version can easily look just as good as the PS3 version, if not better.
Its all up to MS, and whether they allow games to be installed to the HDD correctly like PS3 does. With the DVD format being old these days, they cant NOT do it.
I think we all know the PC version will look the best. Sorry for the confusion.
They really have done a great job of conveying a sense of a coherent and populated universe throughout the whole world... or what we have seen of it so far at least
Ninja Theory... amazing work was done there.
MadMax Goonies + SandPeople FTW!
I like it!
Only, thing that bothers me in these shots is the lack of specularity and reflection on the eyes the mutants. And the iris is a bit bright. But everything else rocks! towel head guys have wicked costumes, I wanna see the high poly
When they say the PS3 version will look better are they talking higher res textures? doesn't seem clear what they actually mean.
Carmack talks about it here http://gamevideos.com/video/id/20047
I feel MadMax/TotalRecall with ID touch.
You finally get a decent looking game, and you break my heart... T for Teen...? No thanks...
But yay for adding coop... But wait, what, its not REALLY coop, its just random fighting you and a friend get it... Wow...
Seriously, drop the Teen rating. It just wont fit with this world. If Gears can be 18 and still sell like mad then so can this. This is better than Gears from what I've seen...
You have a game where there are rebels, heretics, mutants, deathmatch racing, hunting and killing thats set in a world ripped apart by an event that nearly destroyed everything... Can you see Fallout 3 having no blood? What about Doom?
Its the same thing. You get over it.
No you get over it!
In any case, looks awesome. Finally an Id game I'm looking forward to again, as opposed to just the engine.
Agreed, gotta have some good post-apoc game for the Aus that doesn't have to resort to blood and gore gimmick. Considering the enemies are mutants as well it might be id software's most successful game in Germany since Keen 4.
The most miniscule and insignificant of critiques
And if thats the case.. I'd swap multiple shaders for a solid consistant feel and a high reolution on each surface.
Could've fooled me, man.
I'm with odium, though. This needs more blood, and bigger eye textures.
yay, let's use more texture space on something nobody will notice while playing because it only covers a few pixels onscreen, EFFICIENCY FTW!
There's a joke at the expense of odium, here.
I like the indoor areas alot. the lightng, scenery, characters, color graduation, dof, animation. awesome
Digging it for sure, but I would love to see some gameplay... and in gameplay I would like to see all the cinematic gimmicks they show in their trailer aswell.
I dont know why but I still have a hard time to be impressed. The tech seems really impressive, but I hope the game turns out nicley aswell. Teen rating is a good start into thinking about something more rewarding, than dismembering anything that moves for sure, the combination of fps and racing doesnt blow my socks off either... the racing looked a bit weak in the trailer though. which doesnt mean it cannot be executed in a really nice fashion later on...
But all in all i must say I really like that id software tries to step up again and try some new things. I guess that the wind of change that was needed and i hope it will continue once id acquired some more money to invest into next projects that can even go a bit riskier.
Sparth is the lead concept artist / AD?
