Hey all, I've been slowly working on and off on this script for a while and I've been having a helluva time getting people to test it. Fortunately Tacit Math and StJoris have lent me a hand in doing so and I think it's about ready to be released now.
FBsaveSelection is a script that tries to mimic the behaviour of 3ds max and retain component selections.
It's all done with MEL, so it's slower than plugin solutions like you could get with NEX, but I hope to get into the Maya API at some point so I can speed it up.
Anyway, feel free to take a look and let me know what you think

I totally know what you mean about slight resistance to this and many other features. Some people can't see how useful they can be until they fully adopt it. Maybe that's why I've been having so much trouble getting some of my Maya buddies to test my scripts haha.
