Photoshop compadability Question.

If you have 64bit Windows platform can you use Adobe Photoshop CS3 on it if Photoshop is only certified for 32-bit editions?

I assume it will only have access to less RAM in the 64bit windows enviroment if you had more and it will have a better chance of crashing. Are my assumptions correct?

Are their any other downfalls to using Photoshop in a 64bit windows enviroment?

I've been using CS1 in XPx64 for a year or so and it is working nicely, never had any issues with it (despite not having a scratch disk) so I guess CS3 is going to do just fine.

Thanks for the reply peppi. That is good news but what do you mean by "not having a scratch disk"?

Photoshop wont let you use your C drive or other drives as scratch disks?

You don't have an extra drive to use as a scratch disk

im using cs3 in xp64, no problem at all

The latter, I've only got one drive (technically it's 2 discs running as RAID1) in Windows so there's no scratch disk available for PS. It still performs as if there was a scratch disk though, never getting any lag.

Cool thanks for the info people, I was thinking of getting the new CS3 and I was really worried about it working on a 64bit system.

I barley have enough money to upgrade Photoshop every gazillion years, So I like to leave my options open. Dmn programs are so expensive for a man to own.

actually im expieriencing some problems with c3 on vista 64.
might be the fact that its the trail... the whole program stutters, even when just editing very small pictures.

cs1 works fine tho o.O
