so, as of yesterday, all my emails in my mailbox account through 1and1.com has been completely erased somehow. I'm not a happy camper at all right about now. tech support pretty much told me i'm fucked. -great support eh?
. . .anyways.
now i'm looking into switching web hosting providers. anyone have a good suggestion?
-i'm looking at something cheap for my portfolio
- an easy process/program to upload my content onto my website
-anyone know of a good place to find information about switching hosts? i have a lot more questions that i don't need to mash into a silly forum post. - thanks
-oh and i hate 1and1.com just to point that out.

It's ghetto, but free.
(2) I never use my email accounts anyway, just use Gmail, Yahoo, etc.
(3) Dreamhost is slow
(4) Dreamhost is slow
Linux based apache servers so you need to add the HTML and then upload the files using a secure FTP program (WinSCP for example), but been using them for 4+ years now and no complaints
Otherwise I use godaddy bout 25-45 bucks a year.

Try Hole in the Wall, they've been pretty good to me. For $10 a year they're pretty nice. You'll have to get your own domain, obviously, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Oh, by the way, FUCK DREAMHOST.
So i recommend dreamhost.
http://www.siteground.com
- FREE domain name
- 750 GB web space
- 7500 GB traffic
- 99.9% server uptime
- 24/7 top customer care
- FREE SiteBuilder (save $99!)
- Unlimited email accounts
- CPanel and Fantastico
for $5.95 a month.Whether that's a recommendation or not it's up to you to be the judge on that
sure, it's sometimes down, but not often enough to really inconvenience me.
-can i set it up to recieve emails through outlook or something instead of a web based application? i think i'll ask the tech guy at work tomarrow.
the server is usually mail.yourwebsite.com, but if the site is down you can't check your mail anyway.
