If you have iTunes, go to the store and browse TV episodes. There's a motion comic for chapter 1. This is a cool project I'm working on. Nice to see it finally revealed.
BTW, if you're an after effects animator, PM me. We are hiring.
Dagnammit - I need to refresh more often, both those links now show unavailable >.<
I dunno... If I were the producers for this film I would leave trailers all over YouTube & the like - the more the merrier IMO.
Anyway, bedtime so I will have a look around for one tomorrow, tho even if I never see the trailer Im still buying this on bluray the instant it comes available
I felt shivers down my spine and all the hairs in my arm just sticked out so they could see this too.
It looks so unbelievably good and faithful to the graphic novel. Oh, and the music fits perfectly.
Easily my most anticipated film of the year. Followed by Dark Knight ofcourse.
The visual style, to my eyes, is faithful yet pushes an extra slick step.

Doesn't come out until 2009.
I really should read the graphic novel because I really was never aware of the influence the series had on comics/graphic novels and superhero storytelling.. I mean despite everyone in the know seeming to think this is some massive event I'd bet the general public doesn't know enough about the story.
cool comes out on my birthday! i really hope he chills the fuck out on his shitty camera gimmicks in the film.. really hate that slow motion.... now speed up.. now slow motion... now speed up... now slow again.. just make a movie ,camera speed 360 time freeze matrix shit is lame.. hire a cinematographer if you want it to look cool , want to see a movie not a 2 hour music video.
I picked up the book a while back, but only got around to reading it. I'm glad I did before seeing the trailer, I got to appreciate it so much more. I'm really looking forward to seeing the film and am really interested to see how all the multi-layer stuff is handled (pirate comic parts).
From what i have read the black freighter will come out on DVD and bluray the same week as the movie hits theaters. Then when the movie comes out on DVD and blueray there will be a version with them correctly interwoven. To show them interwoven in theaters would be too long for most movie watchers.
oh ... oh ...oh ... .... nah, i can't get past the director. 300 was one of the very worst films i've seen in recent memory, painfully made. Absolutely painful. Almost always i can forgive past crimes (exceptions being Soderbergh and M night Shyalaman) but in that trailer there's at least one of those SODDING sudden changes of normal speed to slow motion and back again ... now, what the hell is that about? Woooooooh, impressive effect, a change in film speed. You best slather your entire fucking film in it, put massive jolts in the middle of flowing action, that'll be a joy to watch. Bloody technique ... it's the visual equivalent of reading a book and hitting a name you can't pronounce. Or happily walking along and tripping over a flagstone. Goddammit, take it, wrap it up in barbed wire, and shove it up your arse where it should stay and never see light of day again
These are really two different versions of one song. The one in Batman & Robin is called "the end is the beginning is the end" and the one in the Watchmen trailer is "The beginning is the end is the beginning". I dunno if they were on the same album, but I do know that both versions were released at the same time. I always liked "the beginning is the end is the beginning" better. This might be a modified version of it, but that's the song.
Anyway, I'm excited as hell to see this flick. I was really worried about how close to the book is would be, seeing as how the book is just so friggin huge and complex, but it looks like they've done a pretty good job of keeping it accurate.
Man, I surprised some of you guys have such a passionate hate for those slow-down action sequences in '300', along with the movie itself.
I thought the movie was visually excellent, enough to make it totally enjoyable despite other shortcomings. I also liked the slow-down action sequences. Mainly since it gives you a chance to more easily absorb and appreciate the fast paced action parts of the movie, especially the first time you see it.
I'll be the first to agree the slow motion stuff in 300 was great for absorbing the eye candy... Unfortunately, it was overdone.
There's also a small section in this trailer where I'm certain he's at it again... Let's just hope he doesn't ruin this film by constantly doing it.
Moose: I was only happy for a bit and then realized he is also credited for "The Scorpion King". Metal Gear Solid love aside, it made me die a little.
J Randall: I still believe there's no way to make a good, faithful adaptation of this particular graphic novel because of its size, layering (parts on the ends of chapters, the black freighter...) and because it's a book that understands and uses the benefits of its own comic book language.
Also, being on book form also lets you take your time while reading it. I probably wouldn't like reading "Watchmen" all in one go.

Surely that applies to any inter-medium translation. Something always gets lost in the process.

I can't wait to see that trailer on the imax tomorrow!
Not a bad year for movies.
Nooooooo!
This is one movie I have been waiting for, the few photos of the sets I have seen look to be remarkably faithful to the original graphic novel.

better quality
The shot of Manhattan's "birth" was straight from Gibbon's art. Awesome.
Clearly sir you are mistaken, for Marine has post #1, thus making him the 'First'.
Unless of course you meant first reply, which then by all means, continue.
gives me chills
