Yeah it's already gone as far as I have heard. There were whispers a few days before the official rumours came out.
It's a shame -especially with the recent North-East dev focus article in this month's Edge. I don't know the full details but I always thought Venom were great at what they did and thought that the Rocky games had stood them in good stead. Good luck to all the guys who were working there.
"Venom Games was originally asked to handle the PS3 version of BioShock (to be released at the same time as the 360 version) but its coders said it wasn't possible. The PS3 version is now in development at 2K's Marin studio."
Yeah I think that quote is taken out of context Jesse. Apparently they didn't go through with the Bioshock conversion becuase of "mis-management by the studio head and lack of significant resources put on it".
It was more of a case of they couldn't do the port in the timeframe/ with the resources they were asked I guess.

hope this not symptomatic of a greater malaise in the uk gaming industry

As far as I know not overly many companies based in the UK have been able to consistently put the UK on the map...
Surely you could say that about companies in any country? Theres always more lackluster games from whichever continent/ counrty than stellar ones.
Sort of a strange response to the news that a development house has just closed down aswell?
and pliang ... what the hell? How do you define "overly"?
Ouch
