Flagship Studios closing down?

I'm a little surprised by all this. I know Hellgate didn't sell as well as the company could have hoped for, but I thought it was doing ok in Asia.

My condolences to all of whom this has affected.

Unfortunate news

Good luck to everyone who has lost a job from this, I know there are plenty of studios hiring at the moment so hopefully it won't be too bad in the long run.

Yea, I saw this as well. Very sad, I was looking forward to Mythos.

All the best to anyone who's affected by this.

And in similar news, a local Vancouver studio just shut down. Backbone vancouver is closing it's doors. Hope everyone there is alright (I know a few people who were there, they seem to be doing fine).

Feels like a lot of studios have been shutting down recently though.

Really sucks to see those guys go. I heard that three of big guys at the top even starting paying people out of their pockets for a month to keep the studio going. Really sad to see such a talented group get taken down.

Hellgate London had great artwork but the movement mechanics of everything gave me a headache. if i was an artist on that game i would seriously beat up the programmers because they screwed it for everyone.

if the designers want something to be crap. even the best code can't make it good..

Damn, I really liked the direction Mythos was heading. I hope Hanbitsoft continues to keep up the servers on HG:L cause I haven't even gotten the time to play it yet and was really looking forward to giving it a whirl.

Best of luck to any Flagshippers, I'm sure the talent will get swooped up fast enough.

I hope Mythos keeps going, did a beta trade awhile back and it was actually showing a lot of promise already in the early stages.

I disagree. HG:L was one of most overhyped pieces of software ever. The game is just plain bad in design and execution in many aspects. And it's a shame that a lot of people had to lose their jobs because of that.

I actually liked the game. Was a subscriber for a couple months, but became too busy with work to keep it up. Buggy and was pretty hit/miss on a lot of the art, but was a pretty enjoyable Diablo-esque game.

Too bad about the studio closing down.
