Art Director - Wii/DS
If you have 5+ years of game experience and want to have control on the artistic direction of upcoming Wii/DS titles, then this role is for you!
The art director works directly with the team to ensure a quality and consistency of style throughout the game, from title screen to end credits.
They must be experienced in the creation of detailed style guides and be comfortable dealing with external licensors on a daily basis.
A broad knowledge of artistic styles, video games and film is essential.
The Art Director will work with the illustrators, modelers, textures and animators to achieve the objectives set forth by the Game Director in a timely and thorough manner.
The Art Director will report to the Game Director.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Creative Director on all aspects of the games look and mood
Set the games style from the art approach to lighting and user interface, then see it through to completion
Work with the audio team to establish a coherent and applicable use of sound effects and music score
Be the direct liaison with the external licensors and publishers art directors.
Help build and maintain artistic schedules to ensure cost effective, timely production
Keep up to speed with current industry trends and cutting edge games
Assist in pitching future titles for the company
Requirements:
Between 3 and 5 years of experience in creation of characters / environments / artistic media and management of a game artistic team
Interest for architecture, design, animation, cartoons and being up to date with artistic currents
Illustration or traditional animation skills
Good communicator and strong leadership
Knowledge of drawing softwares and of 3D technology applied to the video game industry (an asset)
Can easily adapt to the style that corresponds to a suggested project (for example, cartoon style, mature style, fantasy style,
Sense for cinematography: Action rhythm, camera work, music and action fusion (an asset)
Located in Montreal, Quebec.
