I've been posting this up in the WIP thread but I felt that it could use it's own at this point and not keep re-appearing there until I have some major progress or completion. Everything except the wing membranes were made in Zbrush from primitives and Zspheres. The membranes were about 10 polygons each imported into Zbrush.
I had a bunch of problems making the membranes at first, so I'm thinking on making a quick tutorial on it to help out anyone else. Anyways, here's the progress so far.
I'm going to be going on to layered details soon to try and break up the symmetry and bring it all together. He doesn't look all too terrifying yet. Also more mouth tendrils.

Wings still need paint and will be alpha mapped for holes. It's coming along but still has a bit to go. Also, I'm trying to get more detail into the arms. They seem very drab and boring to me right now.
The texture could use some small details and stuff, but other than that I love it!
If not, look it up, because its amazingly creepy.
Joopson - I got into Lovecraft a bit ago. I really love Call of Cthulhu and Dagon. Shadow over Innsmouth is an awesome story. Have you ever seen the movie "Dagon?" It's basically the same story of Innsmouth. I tried the longer tentacles when I first started modeling it and they didn't feel right to me. With my model I actually Was looking at references to Buddha and shorter tentacles seemed to fit into that body type.
BrodyB- Don't lose hope! Actually I fully plan on having those holes in the wings. The first renders were fast prototypes I made in Zbrush to get a feel for the model. The Maya models wings will be alpha mapped in photoshop when I export the texture.
Edit: I almost forgot-

This guy has turned out better than I had thought it would even thus far and is probably one of the best things I've made yet I think.
