I'm just getting the basics of rigging down but something keeps happening that I dont really understand
When I try and start a new chain of joints from an existing joint the existing joint always blows up to about 10 times the size it was
for example I have a wrist bone, and want to create the fingers coming off of that, so I select the joint tool and click on the wrist joint and the wrist joint blows up so its huge. Setting the joint size in my prefs doesnt stop this happening
It still works as a joint but its a pain having joints of all different sizes in the rig. anyone know why this is happening?

you don't necessarily need to start from the wrist joint to add the fingers. you can just make the finger joints, then parent them to the wrist.
As for your other problem of it blowing up big, the attribute is called radius and you'll find it on all joints. you can set it in the channel box or the attribute editor.
But generally, I don't ever continue a joint chain by clicking on an allready made joint. I just start making the new joints and parent them. I find it a cleaner way to work.
edit: by they way, I dig your work man, cool site.
