hey dont know if this is possible. say i bake out a light map with a second uv set, then i go in and texture the object with the first uv set. i make a dx lightmap shader so that i can view them together. is there a way to get those to view as one in a render? anyone would know that would help me a ton! thanks in advance.

This won't work if you have stuff like bounced light in your lightmap, it will only work if the lightmap is greyscale.
Someone else might know a better way, that's just what I thought off the top of my head.
If you or anyone comes up with a feature list, send it over, if its not too much work, I'll write it up (I also have a max ubershader on my site, forgive the bad theme right now)
Did this work for you? I thought it washed out my texture pretty bad and really did nothing for the shadows.
I am thinking of trying a blend map using my lightmap inverted as a mask and then a flat back material as the blend material. Wont be able to do this till I get home though.
