The graphic novel was awesome, so over the top and gratuitous. I somehow doubt that they've kept the entirely subversive / gratuitous elements from the comic, but I kinda hope they have.
Either way it should be good.
Mop, I hear that some scene are like Exact clone from the comic, like it start, and its like SCene to scene exact.. Could be Nice, It was juicy hey Lol
Just got back from seeing it. Pure badassery, I highly recommend it if you've liked action flicks like Equilibrium. Over the top awesome, in the best ways. The humor was great, the gratuitous violence was morbidly incredible, the acting wasn't too shabby and the plot, though predictable, was well told. The good percentages its got on Rotten Tomatoes are well earned.
saw it last night... i wasn't disappointed. hadn't heard of the comic so wasn't expecting anything. overall i'd recommend it. at least at matinee price
BANG BANG *slow motion Matrix-ish scene in which someone just barely escapes from death* BANG BANG *forced romance and typical loser-turning-into-semi-badassery*
Was pretty enjoyable. Plenty of action, some sneaky humour, lots of blood and some cool set pieces.
I have to say though, if you liked the comic, be prepared for disappointment with the movie, the vast majority is nothing like the graphic novel.
The main character was the same from the comic, but 90% of the plot was just completely new and had zero in common with the events and plot of the comic. The ending was completely different too.
I think I'd have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the comic, actually, since then I wouldn't have been expecting a bunch of stuff that just never actually happened. The plot & characters in the comic were much cooler, but much less mainstream entertainment, I guess, so they just chopped it around until it fit into something the Summer Blockbuster movie-going public would enjoy... shame really.
This made me wanna shoot myself. It was that horrrrrrrible! Honestly, this kids dad walked on his ass when he was a week old, exactly why does he have this "i wanna be like daddy/ i wanna avenge daddy" motive?? its complete shit.

Yeah, that really didn't make sense in the movie, they never explained it - in the comic it's completely different (about who his father is and why he left) and his father actually talks to him about it. They pretty much butchered the vast majority of the original story and characters.
good entertainment if you leave your brain and half your spinalchord at the door, first half was much better than the second. some ace stunt/party peices
I agree, Shepeiro. I thought the first half was quite decent -- would've been a very solid movie if they'd kept up that quality but it sorta fell apart at the end. The plot felt pretty rushed (like a lot of things adapted from other media). I didn't think it was a waste of my time, but it wasn't any more than OK.
Thought it was horrible. I lost all interest when they introduced the "Loom of Doom". Half of my theater busted out in laughter when they explained it.
awesome Movie
excelent story
interesting twists and turns
predictable but in a great way. Almost like knowing what's coming and feeling satisfaction from it.

Yes, me too. There was nothing like that in the comic, I have no idea where they got that idea, it was bloody stupid though.
this is one of the films - like I am Legend and Horton Hears a Fucking Who - that i'm not going to see out of general bloody principle. Every sodding advert break on the TV and every sodding bus stop is telling me to go and see this film, i am sick of the sight of it.
i would never not watch a movie just because they advertised it a lot. I'm actualy glad they advertised it enough for me to see it does not interest me at all. or else i may go acidently see it.
on that note danr are you going to see dark knight? its like the most advertised movie in forevers
i've only seen two adverts for the dark knight, and both of those were trailers in the cinema. It also has the benefit of not looking like a big pile of old wank starring Mr Tumnus

Ill go see the movie if its as juicy as thoses russian trailers

Based on the trailers however, it certainly looks like it is very different from the graphic novel!
Either way it should be good.

Looks stoop-id.
Agreed, the main character got on my nerves a few too many times.
Never heard of the comic before hearing about this movie so I don't know how well it follows it.
Wall-E
And maybe this one....
