3DS Max question.

I need to bake the details of a high-poly onto a low-poly in Max. I know I can use the Projection modifier. But say I want to bake materials and procedural textures that I set up on my high-poly down to my low-poly along with the normals. Can I do this through Render to Texture or the Projection modifier? How? Anyone got links to any tuts?

Just add another map type in the RTT window.
Using Render to Texture, add "diffuse" in addition to your normal map. Diffuse will only gather color info, if you want to collect spec, add another map in the RTT for spec. It will collect the spec and color info for all the different materials applied to your high.

You can also render out a "complete" map but that also gathers ALL info, spec, diffuse, and lights/shadows and saves it to one texture. Normally a bad thing.

That works if I am baking the diffuse/spec detail from a high to a low, right? Gracias :) I'll try that tonight.
