Max manipulator

this is probably something stupid, but I've lost it and I can't find it. The red green blue thing that changes when you switch between move/rotate/scale.

X doesn't do anything, there's no indication of the pivot at all.

I can still move scale and rotate, but with out the manipulator its pretty hard to do anything useful.

where else should I look?

It could be that your pivot point is just offset really crazy? Go to the hierarchy tab, then click "affect pivot only", then hit "center to object". That should center your pivot to the object, and from there, hitting X should show toggle the gizmo (It's called the Gizmo in max, maya has the manipulator :P).

nevermind, found it by chance. Somehow I turned off "Show Transform Gizmo" in the view menu, must have hit the shortcut by accident or something.

It will also seem to disappear (in the perspective viewport) If the gizmo is set to "Use Transform Coordinate Center"
