So I'm finally (after about 8 years) getting a new bed for my room (as opposed to sleeping on the couch I have here), and one of the conundrums I'm facing is that I'm gonna have less floor space. This being the case, I'm gonna have to get rid of the two large standing bookshelves I've got and look into some wall shelving, which is fine by me... 'cept I'm a little miffed about how to approach it. Art books, it seems don't like to follow 'the rules', so I've got all sorts of different sized books, tomes, and comics I need to present, from massively thick and heavy to narrow and really freaking wide.
How do you lot tackle this? Keeping in mind I *can* fabricate my own setup, and would like to approach it creatively if possible.

Something like this could be cool though.

California has quakes, make sure heavy books are really secured if they're being stored above your bed.
Well right now I'm using a dorm bookshelf from Target, but basically I put the large, heavy books on the end to act as bookends, then put the smaller or lighter ones in between. Also, same stuff on same shelves, like I have 1 shelf for heavy books, and another for magazines. Also, do get one with a back and sides. Mine just has rods holding platforms up and while it does hold books and such quite well, they did have to be placed like I said above, otherwise they fall out...
