Can't wait to see the vid... Started to watch the dev interviews, and hearing things like 'photorealism is the pinacle of the game industry' bored me to death!
i think there is just that first video on the link i provided, its only 11 seconds i think the full video should be out soon. we got some leaked shots at work, don't think i can post them.
i don't think better hardware is needed, if you look at this stuff: http://www.projectoffset.com/
just stumbled on their website yesterday and was baffled by their graphics. (check out the video section).
Yeah, i allready a saw some footage from that engine, cant share that though. But here is an interview with that guy that programmend the engine, there is also some cool footage in that interview:
Photorealism in 4-5 years?! As an artist in the industry I find that prospect laughable. Where is the manpower to create all of these photorealistic assets going to materialise from? Are budgets about to triple? I certainly don't see that happening.
It may be all perfectly doable, their scene is just a single street with some Background buildings as you can see in the video.
As with any other tech demo, it looks great in small scale but probably wont be of much use in a game... unless you turn some options down and leave out some features... which probably will end up looking like everything else out there.
If you watch the "realtime" video closely you will see that the camera is INSIDE a cubemapped cube, not a game environment. In fact, it looks almost exactly like google maps streetview. Where is the changing reflections and highlights? When he zooms or pans, why doesn't the perspective correct? It is because it's totally fake. All he is doing is adjusting some post settings in realtime

Hoping ATI's new offering spurs more competition in the GPU market.
Video clip looks pretty cool, I want to see the full-res, full-length thing!

That ATI video needs a larger resolution version, though. Now it just makes me think they are hiding something :P

Pretty crazy stuff when you think about that its all rendered in realtime with only a single pc!
i want to know what your "top secret" project is..
rage: enemy territory?
Now they are building a game around it the graphics are getting scaled down more and more and coming back to earth.

Seems like complete BS

100% ray-traced pipeline!? Sounds pretty stunning to me.
