Cars often use mirrored UVs, with decals (floating transparent quads) to handle non-mirrored logos. Tangent-space normalmap would be the way to go, unless you have a shader that supports mirrored object-space maps.
I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and say this is for a portfolio piece. Texture size would reasonably be a set of 1024x1024s (diffuse, normal, spec, etc.).
