WIP - Character Priestess/Assassin

Hello All!

I was directed to this site by some fellow students and thought the feedback given was extremely valuable. So, here I am posting some concept art I produced for a class I am taking this summer. Our goal is to create a character from concept to Hi-res model to game model from scratch. Before I start modeling I'd love to get some critiques! I will continue posting my progress throughout the semester.

Backstory:
At an early age Shu Ya was sold into the Sisterhood of the Lotus. A religious sect reserved for the most beautiful women. It is said that grace and beauty are the gateways to a higher plane of existence and those who confess their sins to these priestesses are cleansed of any wrong duty.

Shu Ya, disgusted with the repeated wickedness of men, decided to take it upon herself to place judgment on those who confess to her and her fellow sisters. The only warning the condemned hear is the faint tinkling of bells signaling their impending death.

This Image are my initial sketches. I was trying to figure out a color scheme for my character.

Numbering from left to right:
#1-4: Playing around with colors and materials for armor.
#5: Priestess by day?

Here is an alternative armor style I was playing with. Though, I struggled with what sort of embellishments to put on the arm and leg plates. So, please let me know which one you like best or if you have some other suggestion.

I am currently working on a back view and will post that image once I'm through.

Thanks for taking a look!

Hi, It looks like you have a decent start but you'll want to break down what your character is wearing and the props she's going to be using. Maybe use a full page to concept each piece out and really define the detail you're going for. So far I like number 3 on both.

I also noticed your character is symmetrical so far maybe play with some asymmetrical armor designs while you’re still in the concept phase. You also have the Bells idea to play with, how does she carry them and keep them silent while she's approaching her unsuspecting prey and of course her weapon of choice how she carry's it maybe its different or unique to the typical sheath.

Thanks Wilex for your comment. I know symmetry is a problem. I've added a few accessories here and there in the design in hopes of making it a bit more interesting.

Just wanted to post my WIP. Here is the base mesh I've created thus far (one mesh smooth iteration). If anyone sees any issues please let me know, since I'll start working on a hi-rez version soon.

Some wire frame shots and close up of the face without mesh smooth. Does she look Asian? Total poly count for the body (minus the eye "balls") is roughly 1750 quads.

Thanks for looking, any comments and suggestions welcome and encouraged!

Ok, so a lot has been going on, and with storms knocking out my power for a week, I hadn't posted in a while.

Here is a screen of my Assassin thus far. I made her base armor. I still need to go into photoshop. The coloring is just for a placeholder and to check how my uvw's were coming along. She still has to be taken into Zbrush, where I'll add most of the subtle detail to her armor

Some classmates thought her chest area looked too low, thus making her look old. Is there agreement here?

I would really appreciate any comments, critiques, suggestions, whatever you want to throw at me! I just want to improve. Many thanks in advance.
