yay! i tried to play 1 again recently but vista doesnt like it much :./
Rooster, I had the same problem. Apparently the PC port was pretty half-assed, which is rather disappointing. It didn't like me using my 360 controller, the icons in the upper left corner kept flickering, and it locked up hard during one of the first few in-game cinematics.
May have to go dig around in a bargain bin and find it for the xbox.
Shit yeah. I cannot wait for this to come out. The first Beyond Good & Evil is on my top 5 games of all time for sure. It took a long time but I hope that the sequel is just as good if not better.
And....I just wet myself. The sequel to one of my favorite games last generation is finally announced. Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope that they take their time with the development. One of the most impressive things about the first game was how very, very polished it seemed. The experience it presented was streamlined, with all dross nicely scoured away. I just hope that they don't rush the development of the sequel in an attempt to cash in on the cult following.
Hallelujah. People better buy the damn thing this time.

Have you tried shutting off your second CPU (assuming you're using a dual core)? More than anything that seems to be the issue that older games have with the new systems.
Generally when a game is a critical darling but has lackluster sales (whether a total flop or just mediocre) the sequel does really well because the devoted fan base and media outlets hype it up from the very first mention right up till release. See: Bioshock, PoP2, Guitar Hero 2.
People haven't stopped yelling for a BG&E2 even since the first one was released. I guarantee it'll do pretty damn good this time around unless they completely fuck it up.
From a business point of view I can't see the reasoning for this unless Ubisoft is going to give this new sequel a real marketing push - Beyond Good and Evil as a franchise probably doesn't mean much to most gamers.

pretty good, not quite believing that that will be what the game looks like in-game, but that doesnt really matter.
REALLY need to get the original. I keep meaning to, and its like one of the last GCN titles I want to get, but I always seem to forget.
how do i shut off my (other 3) CPUs?
it was graphical glitching though, like alpha planes flickering and occasional stretched bits across screen
Alright Mister fancy-pants quad-core.
Start the game.
Ctrl-alt-del to the task manager
Under processes, right-click the BG&E executable and select "Set affinity..."
Turn off all but CPU0
Alt-Tab back to the game and hope for the best.
I like the fact that the affinity panel goes up to CPU 31. Thats a future proofing right there.
The previous game was super multiplat. They even made it for PC!
So i imagine this time around it'll be on 360, PS TRIPLE, and PC. I bet they'll make a Wii version but it'll be some mini-game version (UGH).
I can't wait!!

btw if anyone cares; when i played it BGE1 on me XP PC i had didn't have any graphical issues even with all cores turned on, but I did have to use an unofficial patch to get this glitchy key (that a robot drops in the slaughter house area) as it was crashing the game for me.
