This is....interesting. Initially, after seeing the trailers/commercials, I was pretty convinced this would be a disaster. Now I'm not so certain. There is something strangely charming about this enterprise....

I think the action in this movie will be FANTASTIC but dont care much for watching anything else.

Also, the bad guy is a BLIND race car driver. So thats kinda cool.

as for the movie totaly uninspiring.. reminds me of the old straight to dvd hot wheel cgi movies..

Just got back from seeing this. I enjoyed it although I did have some issues with it. It's a kid's movie so I just let them slide. I had to go see it cause I remember sitting in my mickey mouse club chair every afternoon to watch the old show

Speed Racer is fucking incredible. That action kicked way more ass than any other movie I've seen in a long time. I enjoyed that sooo goddamn much. I was one of 8 people in the theatre

It did horrible in the box office. Less than $20 million in the opening. For a movie that costs $160m (I think), that's pretty bad. I don't see a sequel in the future.

Yea, all the critics destroyed the movie, but they're oh so very very wrong.

As far as a sequel, I dont really need one. THat movie was just plain great action.

Saw it over the weekend as well. I would definitely say more suited for kids, much more so than most family friendly fare i.e. Pixar flicks, which tend to have something for everyone. Though it was certainly colorful and had enough energy for an atomic reactor, it did seem a little overbaked at times. For every action scene that clicked (desert car-fu) there would be several that seemed...monotonous ? And at times, and this will sound silly, I found the plot actually hard to follow, especially the bit *SPOILERS* where the bad guy explains some key things to Speed Racer. In any case, I'm sure my 4 year old nephew will flip out over it
