Cryptic Studios is looking for a talented VFX Artist. If you like to watch things blow up or use smoke and mirrors to dazzle and impress, we have a place where you can channel your fascination for pyrotechnics and illusions. Join the Cryptic team to create and innovate in real-time, next-gen visual effects for console and PC.

We supply the proprietary game engine and tools, and you bring your talent for writing and editing VFX scripts. Add a dash of Photoshop and a pinch of 3DSMax, and ignite the fireworks for character powers and weapons, explosive objects and environments.

Armed with your knowledge of animation, physics and rendering, you will conjure sprites and particle systems, soft body and cloth effects, and rigid-body dynamics. What are you waiting for? Every day you could be:

Working in a team environment developing next-generation titles for console and PC.
Using 3D Studio Max, Maya, XSI or other 3D software.
Using Photoshop in a Windows-based environment.
Troubleshooting art assets.
Creating character powers and weapons, explosive objects and environments.
What we'd like to see:

Two or more years in game development.
One or more game titles shipped.
Four or more years 3D Studio Max, Maya, XSI or other 3D software experience with a focus the applicant's specific discipline.
Four or more years Photoshop experience in a Windows-based environment.
The ability to communicate art style and vision within the specific discipline.
Ability to work within a style including a style set by another artist.
Understanding of techniques for graphical effects, such as multi-pass textures and shaders, character skinning, skeletal animation and HRD.
Be adept at troubleshooting art assets.
Mastery of MS Office.
Traditional art foundation including color theory, lighting and form.
Your portfolio should contain:

Demo reel or Web site demonstrating high-quality art renderings.
All work shown must be in a final state. Works in progress are acceptable only if the minimum amount of pieces have been satisfied.
All work should reflect the position that you are applying for.
