The deed has been done
the wacom sales rep said they are back-ordered from their store so I had to go through one of their authorized resellers, Calumet. Apparently the rebate doesn't apply to back ordered products.
You know what Justin, ordering through that reseller sounds slike a good move to me.
I ordered mine straight from Wacom last month, turned out the display had a dead/stuck/whatever pixel right on the average work area. But it was not dead enough (!) for the device to be considered faulty by the almighty Wacom jury; you need to have a certain absurd number of DPs to qualify for an exchange. This I can understand for TVs, but not for a 2500$ device you stuck your nose on.
So I was supposed to pay 400$ worth of restocking fees (read : them checking the box contents! I actually forgot to slip in the stylus stand haha) plus shipping. As it was an online order I think this is borderline-legal since this stuff usually allows for cooling/no question asked period.
Anyways. Ended up fighting them over the phone and by email for two weeks to finally obtain a full refound that I am still waiting for. Wacom reps originally suggsested they could send me a free stylus instead!!! All this hassle on top of the frustration of receiving a not-perfect product ... makes me think it might be wise to check out other resellers' return policy!
I feel your pain too, I don't qualify for the rebate anymore either
Besides that I'm sure you will have a blast. (can't wait to re-order one hehe). I recommend the Ergotron swivel arm for it also.
I picked up a dinky little 6*10 one yesterday. Its a good size - big enough for working in Photoshop and Maya. The 21 inch ones look a bit too large to be entirely practical to me.
It really is worth picking one up. Theres some sort of significant psychological difference between working directly on a screen and working with your eyes on the screen and your hand on the tablet. I find myself able to work much more quickly.

Doubtful.
I bought one myself. They are awesome, but absolutely overpriced IMO.
We're all suckers.
