Too clean. Make it look worn and used. Also the shot you have is tough to see any texture details which it looks like you're lacking at this point. The motors look way low res compared to the 25 sided rope and metal tubes.
thanks for the tips jeffro how do oyu suppose i dirty it up? i dont want to make it to dirty as boats really dont get that worn. i want it to look newer but not fresh off the factory floor.
Try baking some lighting into te texture, like a light orange tone from below and a more blueish tone from above. Then bake an AO pass.
Next, find some nice rubber refpics or whatever it is those boats are made from and overlay it to the rubbery parts.
Get an Envmap on those Metal parts so that it looks like it reflects the environment. Get some color variation in there too, maybe add some racing stripes or anything like that so that is´s not totally black everywhere.
Make the part where the steering wheel is mounted on from a different metal than the metal pipe cage around it. Add some Wear & Tear to the material of that part, like chipped paint and dirt at the bottom.
And last, get some details in there, like the underside of the boat, maybe add some kind of "geometry deformation" but paint it in the texture, so that it looks more like this for example:
Look at some refpics for color ideas, maybe add some camo or something?
So here is my 2 cents for what it is worth (not much).
The low geo looks good
the material treatment does look flat and artificial
what I would consider is adding grime and stains using a combination of clearly evident staining on the diffuse map and the not so evident grimes and stains on a color spec map. Adding additional staining or grime through a color spec map is a good way to add interest on a subtle level by doing this you maintain a pretty consistent look across surface of the rubber but when the light rolls over the surface the discoloration and staining will pop out at the viewer. also I would look at the construction of the boat more closely and try to communicate those details through a normal map or a displacement map. In the first refference link below you will notice handles and all sorts of seams along the boat. Also I would guess there is some sort of discoloration or some kind of scum build up at the water line of the boat. I have included some ref for you to take a look at, I hope it helps
