Strange issue with Max

Ok so today i sat down and wanted to get some work done. And it dawned on me that on my main profile on my PC i have too many distraction so i figured id make a profile that just had what i needed in it and no added Icon or anything.

So i made it and it just has the Basics of Zbrush, Max, Photoshop, ect

For some strange reason though the Max on the new profile wont let me rotate...at all. So i uninstall Max and reinstall it frm the new profile and still the same issue is there. On my main profile it's fine.

Any thoughts?

(Max 2008, Windows XP Pro)

What do you mean it won't rotate?
Like you can't move the viewport around, or when you select an object, you can't rotate the object?

Can't rotate the viewport in less you use the actual Arc Rotate tool. otherwise Alt+Middle mouse just cause the screen to spazz, and by spazz i mean it will zoom in and then when you let go it snaps back to where it was.

    Reinstall your mouse driver?

But it works fine on my normal profile on my PC, but i guess i could give that a shot. Now to find the CD for my mouse.

Sounds like your shortcut configuration is off on your new profile. Try this:

Go to your old profile, load max, customize -> customize user interface

under the keyboard tab click save and save the config in a location you can easily find from your other profile. (NOT desktop)

load your other profile and open max, customize -> customize user interface

load the file you saved from your other profile.

This is just key bindings but it may help with your mouse issue too.

If that fails then check your mouse driver to see what the middle mouse button is configured to, it may be configured differently to your main profile.

    Hope this helps.

    Fixed.

Yea it ended up being the Logitech settings. I guess they default when making a profile.

It had the scroll button (aka middle mouse button) set to Zoom..and at first glance that seemed right..seeing how you zoom and scroll with it. But after checking my main profile i had that one set to other (button3).

So all fixed. Thanks for the help.
