Ok I think I have a tip that may help you with texturing, dont use brushes with soft edges. use them for effects or softening areas but dont use them to define shapes or add dirt or shadow, in my opinion you should rather use harder brushes that have a little texture.

A question for you, do you want this to have full bright textures and paint in all the lighting information or will you have specular or normal maps?
About texture, I want to paint all information of colors, lighting and reliefs (or bump?) in a texture
