Humm I see your point. Those articles did expand it a bit.
I do think its a little odd that while it was a site she used and endorsed it, but now that it stands to beat her to the market and make a fair chunk of change she's running it down as much as possible.
I think the point that having info categorized in lexicon format is useful and adds to the bounty of her work. It is a bit sketchy if it actually falls under fair use. Look at cliff notes, they don't put everything in quotes but it is explained where the text came from and that the words they use are not always their own.
Her claim that it doesn't add anything is kind of weak. And the only reason she's claiming it doesn't is to promote the sale of hers.
I see her point, this is Harry Potter money they would be making and she's not getting a cut. This emotional BS about it being a recompile of her works is crap. They aren't trying to use her words to tell the same story. They are trying to help people understand the universe. She's bitter they are ready to hit store shelves before she can.
My response would be to let them publish theirs. Then write my own offical lexicon that far surpasses theirs and make theirs obsolete with the shear awesomeness of mine. I would take the opportunity to not only catalog and record each character object and thing of importance but I would add to the universe in ways they never could. If she really thinks that because its an inferior work that it will detract from the Harry Potter universe then she should do all she can to stop it. But thats not her only motivation and she wouldn't have used it and endorsed it, if it was.
An offical lexicon from JKR that explains and expands the Harry Potter universe would make money hand over fist above a second rate lexicon compiled using only the info in the books. Even if it hit store shelves first. But instead she's turning it into a David Vs Goliath trial and making herself look really greedy in the process.
