Hey guys, Ive been fiddling with modeling over the years
www.smallsumo.tk and have always used milkshape but I need to step up to max and other cool apps like zbrush.
A simple thing I would like to know is and this is because i am comfortable with milkshape can I take a relatively low poly model I made in milkshape and import it into max and then proceed to make it higher poly. Take a model 12000 polys and make it around 5 or 6 thousand so its better for the likes of hl2.
Sorry I smell so much of nub.
Another thing that confuses me is in milkshape u have mesh and bones and then in max you have editable poly and skin and bones and convert to this and that and I'm like sheesh they are all triangles aren't they? Omg t3H Nub!
I have 50 millions max tuts on my drive so I guess in time I will learn it all, but anyones two cents will be appreciated.

I never understood how somebody could work properly with a program like milkshape.
Anyway, ofcourse you can import your model from ms3d to max.
Since ms3d only uses triangles i would suggest that you convert it to quads. You'll notice it's easier to see your edgeflow that way.
I don't really know the difference between the editable poly and editable mesh things, because i don't use 3ds max.
Good luck with learning max.
