About Slant Six:
Slant Six Games is a videogame development studio that specializes in creating games for both the Sony PlayStation Portable and Sony PlayStation3 next generation console. Located just steps from Granville Island in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, we are a highly experienced team offering opportunities to practice the art of video game development in a non-corporate office. We make games the way they should be made – using creative drive, strong work ethics, efficient team sizes, and above all, a sense of fun.

About the position:
The Concept Artist is responsible for producing high quality concept artwork and maintaining the integrity and quality of the artwork throughout the lifecycle of the product. The Artist helps define key game elements, including character, background designs and colour schemes. This includes modern Earth and Science fiction themes (fantasy, futuristic, etc.)

Key Contribution areas:

ü Create high quality concept artwork that clearly conveys the vision, style and setting of the game
ü Maintain the integrity and “look and feel” of the artwork between pieces.
ü Experiment with environments in various conditions and times of day.
ü Create a style guide for each assigned title covering all artistic aspects of the game.
ü Provide feedback on general aspects of game design from an artistic perspective.
ü Work with necessary departments to solve design issues as they arise.
ü Participate actively in concept art and project meetings.

What you will do:

ü Create high quality concept artwork based on interaction with the project leads.
ü Demonstrate creativity and innovation in designing and developing artwork for new games and game upgrades
ü Demonstrate an exceptional eye for design and colour and an in-depth knowledge of the gaming community
ü Solid sketch skills: Clearly defined forms, knowledge of anatomy, perspective and design.
ü You should be able to show a broad range of abilities including: characters, vehicles, weapons, props and environments.
ü Communicate effectively at all levels
ü Demonstrate high levels of technical competence in creating artwork using on-line tools e.g. Photoshop
ü Have a strong eye for design, colour and print layout
ü Maintain focus in the face of many, potentially conflicting, demands on their time
ü Provide color keys, mood paintings and style sheets from rough to fully realized paintings.


You have:
ü Degree in fine art.
ü Demonstrated ability to produce high quality concept work.
ü 3+ years of game development experience would be an asset.
