attach spline to a biped

Hello

I´m rigging a character with character studio/physique and have added spline controls to the face, all seems to work ok but can not attach/link the splines to the biped to move along with the biped head

i.e when i move the splines the face deforms ok, but when i move the biped head the splines do not follow that movement

how can i do that?

i´m using max 2008

Thanks

    Hi rul.

Question: Why can't you link the spline to the head? Is there a dependency loop going on?

Can you link the spline to a dummy, or other intermediary null type object, and link that to the head?

Yeah, linking should work fine. If not, try a Link or Position constraint with "keep initial offset" checked.

I've only ever made small attempts to rig anything with a spline in max, but in maya you have to link the control objects of the spline (cv curve) to the parent object (head in your case), since they determine the curving of the spline, not the spline itself.

If you're deforming the spline by manually animating the control vertexes or whatever they're called in max, you might have to make control objects for those.

Now this is how it works in maya, not necessarily max, but both programs seem to work pretty similar if it comes to rigging (except everything works in maya). Perhaps it helps, good luck in either case. :)
