Hi all,
First post here, never really knew about polycount til I found an awesome thread on normal mapping here through a search. So, again, HI!
Looking for some critiques on how to give this thing a bit more character, and what y'all think of the idea of an "engine glow" in the rear cone. It's a game model for my Homeworld2 mod, BrickSpace. All the textures are baked on from a high poly model. I'm still not happy with the red and green pieces, they're supposed to be clear plastic.
I can post a wireframe and some more screencaps if desired.
Here's the real thing for comparison.

And yes, I just realized I left the engine off, d'oh. It's a seperate piece for game engine purposes (texture changes when the ship's in motion).

Hm, my pic seems to be breaking the layout. I can resize it if it's too big.

ditto!
ohhh this was fun
nice stuff
(they look odd next to a collectors edition scout walker and batmobile though!)
Should be a great mod though. Is it all classic sets, or are you doing MOCs by builders like Nnenn and co also? (well ,i suppose most of the microspace stuff is influenced by homeworld anway so wouldnt make much sense.)
RogB - Awesome, another AFOL! Because it's just me doing all this, I was forced to scale back my plans considerably, that being that I wanted to make PCS, 3vil, and Jade Empire stuff too. I even have a model of Adrian Drake's Tribunal started, if you're familiar with that one.
Here are some old-standard game models that I did though. The Explorovore by Brian Cooper, a ship by a friend of mine, Ranger, and two ships by a builder named Stenz. If you use IRC, you should stop by esper.net sometime, there is a #lego channel there!

Looks great! Do you know the program LEGO Digital Designer? I was an intern at lego 3d software and had a chance to actually work on the program. It would be great for you to prototype your models with this. I imagine it's a lot faster to build your models and then you can easily base your highpolys on that. Just google it
