Posting along with the rest of my university class for the DWIII event.
After a few passes around the board, came up with a concept involving a wild child and her, that's right,
artifact dragon. Here's a couple images of the, heh, dragon based on
an early thumbnail.
Between generic asiatic dragon designs, too-much-and-then-too-little artifice, I wasn't very happy with the developed thumbnails. The images above pretty much sum up everything I was unhappy with, but I think I've got the direction pinned down now. More on that next post, along with the child-character designs. We'll see.

Final development sketch for el kiddo. She sits on Strander's massive head, mysteriously unaffected by the raging torrent of magnetic force given off her artifact-mount's electrified coils. Go figure, excuse pending.
Flat model sheet WIP.
Final design for the dragon 'artifact'- "Moonhead Strander". I might finish out the first one for my final submitted image but I feel there's still a lot of problems with it, WIP status notwithstanding. It doesn't do much to portray Strander's relationship with Still Nameless Girl (in fact, I completely forgot to paint her in), much less any supernatural magnetic machine rending. The wreckage is there, but come on- who doesn't want to see some robots actually getting fried? Personally, I'm leaning toward something with more action.
OH HAY and the polycount logo design managed to completely pretty much work its way out of not just one but, that's right, both designs. HMMMMMM >:\
ps. sorry about any color funk, my monitor is a little unstable for coloring- i'll color correct these when i find a calibrated monitor
