I just switched over from OSX back to the world of Windows. What are some good programs that I might not be thinking of for Windows? Just wondering if anyone has any hidden gem type programs.

free virus scanner http://www.mediamonkey.com/
mediaplayer that doesnt have RETARDED shuffle (like playing 3 hours only one artist, 5 times the same song)
you can just have list you randomize (the way it should be imo)
Just looking for stuff like the mediamonkey thing. Just programs that people might not be aware of but that are useful. Anyways, thanks I'll look into these.
I'm not sure but my girlfriends got home something or other and you can't ctrl+alt+del up the task manager... though its probably something she's done.
It's not quite out yet, but DropBox will be my ideal program once its released. http://www.getdropbox.com/
I already use MS's FolderShare between work and home, but this looks to be even more streamed AND has revision control. The difference with this, compared to FolderShare, BESIDES the amount of features it has is that it'll cost money, per month.
must not forget Lavasoft's Ad-Aware, as when entering the world of windows, you have also entered the world of all sorts of nasty little bots. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Umm I think it's Vista Home Premium. Is there much of a difference in the Vistas?

Yeah, there's Vista Ultimate, which allows you to get a few extra goodies. Of course, someone has a hack to make those goodies install on to the other versions of Vista, but I don't have any of those links for you (since I stopped using Vista).
For instance, you can have an animated wallpaper by installing Dreamscene( http://dream.wincustomize.com/DeskScapes.aspx ). Some good animated wallpapers can be downloaded here: http://dream.wincustomize.com/
(It looks like they may finally have a download for Home Premium, but it says 'preview' which makes me think they want to charge for it on Premium)
Ultimate also has a few extra games you can download. A poker game and a kid's game.
Has anyone here figured out how to actually get true administrator access under Vista Home Premium? It will allow you to make yourself administrator but you still actually do not have full admin privileges. I was trying to change a system folder to not be "read-only" and I kept getting denied as not having sufficient admin privileges. Very frustrating that MS has tried to make this version so idiot proof that even people who actually know what they are doing are not able to.

3D exploration, back from the days before it was called DeepExploration (better self illumination preview last time I compared)
openoffice
I'm also loving FileboxExtender, which I believe monster posted a while back.
Filezilla is also a great free FTP app.
