Surreal Software is looking for a qualified Lighting Artist. As a Lighting Artist you must have strong skills in traditional art, can demonstrate through your portfolio, the use of light, shadow and color to establish mood. Qualified applicants should have a working knowledge of 3D lighting systems such as Maya or Unreal, understands the workflow of game development and be able to work closely with other artists on the team to develop the lighting look for our games.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working directly with the Lead Artist, the Lighting Artist is responsible for creating the lighting look for our games in accordance to the Style Guide.
Participate in a weekly Artists and Animators meeting, to communicate the weekly planning and review work in progress.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required.
AA/BFA preferred, or at least demonstrate through portfolio an industry standard level of art.
Experience with materials/shaders and their relationship to light.
Experience with in-house game engines a plus, with prior use of the Unreal engine preferred.
Excellent color sense.
Wide understanding of lighting/rendering technologies (pre-render and real-time rendering, sub surface scattering, HDR, refraction, etc).
Familiar with Maya and Photoshop and a high capacity to learn new tools.
Strong background in traditional art skills.
