A while back I had a problem with a keyboard shortcut not working, it was fixed by making sure the the keyboard shortcut button was pressed.
This issue is not being solved by that.
The issue:
When I add an edit poly modifier on to an object I can no longer press "E" to rotate the object.
So far if I want to rotate the object by pressing 'E' I have to move the tab to 'create' instead of having the 'modify' tab active.
I could also manually mouse click the rotate button, but that seems like so much effort!
I normally haven't seen this problem because I'm not used to adding edit poly modifiers to objects (I'm used to converting). But I'm changing my work flow a bit and this problem is highly frustrating.
edit: Sorry this is max9.

[EDIT] Oh, "edit poly modifier", so I'm guessing it's 3ds max. Sorry, no can help. Just learning it at the moment.
Simple fix: Customize > Custom User Interface > Group: Edit Poly > Uncheck the Active Checkbox.
That should allow you to use the shortcuts you're use to.
