First batch of silhouettes..
My favorite of these is the top right, but I do too much stuff of that nature which is why I will be aiming at a predominantly more human character.
I think I'll probably be going with an assassin type character, who's artifact is embedded in the head of a creature/beast which he has on a leash. This creature can smell/sense the use of other artifacts. The character would be wrapped in an assortment of gear, as well as some scrolls containing magical scripture. Below is my first crack at this design. I think at the moment its way too generic and bland.

Needs more jellybeans though...
im lovin the detailed head, looks crazy
out of the thumbs, the bottom left sticks out the most for me, the shamanistic elder style staff hes got is giving a great looking silhouette, and certainly worth exploring a bit further
looking forward to seeing some more stuff
.... cleaned up some scrawl from the train ride home...
From the original concept I got the impression of him being a crazy little monkey-like imp thing, which I think would be cool. Just my personal preference though man. Keep the concepts coming!
I think part of the clumsy, slothlike look is coming from the fact that his shoulders, along with the hands raised off the ground. It looks like he's just shuffling along lazily without enough energy to stand up straight or raise his arms.
If you chunked up the shoulders, worked on the front hands/feet a bit more and planted at least one of them on the ground, I think you'd wind up with a stronger looking character. A gorilla is your obvious reference point.
Still trying some different ideas....
Not sure if I should go with a hunting hound type beast, or more of a critter. Will concept up a critter next.
On the critter thing, your first concept made me think it might be funny to have a little critter guy that goes nuts when he smells and artifact and drags his "master" around, bites him when he's pissed off, that sort of thing. Sort of switching the whole master/servant relationship around. Just an idea, looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.
Ignore the cheesy arm cylinders....
This is pretty close to a final on his beast...will flesh it out in the sculpt.
Update on the main character next.....
The end of the tail seems a bit weird compared to the rest of him. It seems like it should have more of a bend in the middle of it. Maybe adding some more spikes around the tip would look cool too? Just my two cents anyway.
Are you planning to have any harness'/straps/armour on this guy?
