haha sweet, this is really coming to life, great work! I dont know if you are going to rig him or how you are going to do it but I would suggest putting a lot of expression on his face so that it doesnt seem so life-like. Although thats mainly a matter of taste. Im really looking foward to the final character.
thanks wizo!, I really want him to have a lively and expressive face, to many monsters and suriusness in this competition.
first pass on the armour and pants, the gold seems a little rich and the transition between the two metals is a bit abrupt, I think I will add a third half and half metal for some of the parts taht are gold now and just dab a bit of gold onto the edges of the silver stuff.
nice work man, one of my favorite entries... very refreshing to see something that isnt some variation of mishappen body parts, skulls, or the like. ( no offense to those entries intended). good luck man!
lovin the gold and silver trim.
Hey Squirrely, looking great man really like th whimsical style that you have going on in this one. One suggestion is that maybe the gold on the pants change to something else?..maybe an oragne leaf feel to them or something that offsets it from the gold of the metal? Not sure if it will help but when i squint it mutes into one gold area on the leg.
Thank's for the comment guys, I toned down the gold a bit in areas, I might continue with that a little more, maybe that helps distinguish the gold on the pants a little better, I dunno, so tired:
but have the feeling, that the bear is a bit to real compared to the rest, maybe painting abit over the texture would help to make the whole character more consistent?
how do you get the find edges script to work. what are the steps to make it work. i have never used any max scripts before. so it ll be great if someone could help.
I wasnt convinced at first, but this one really turned out brilliantly, I love the way you rendered the golden armor, and the winning pose is nice.
Awesome work, congrats.
Make an animation of him sneezing now, and post it on youtube > profit.
The poses, texture work, and idea was just superb over-all. Level of detail in the armor, weapons, etc. is just really ace. The constrained color palette worked out really nice too.
I'm so jealous Ive refrained from posting here so far, incase I start spouting obscenities about how friggin cool everything turned out.. ye basta---(end of message)
BIG UP MAN! Very nice!
Clean stable work!
Like the style too!
Beauty shot seems a little loose though, not to sure where hes going, missing the force somehow, winning pose shows you got a good sense for pose and balance, though...

Please paint in some occlusion at the parts where the armor overlaps other parts or use a lowpoly ambocc bake.
Maybe there's also a nice looking, ready to use fur shader out there somewhere?
The wings are too white though. Need to add a bit of black into them i think

Thanks for all the comments guys and sorry I didn't have time to try all the suggestions. Gonna go play some smash bros now.
This piece has totally grown on me - I really love it! So much character in this little guy which is awesome to see
