Coolio. Could use some more detail, though.

nice render. is this final? i think she needs a lot more exagerration to set her apart. right now her sihouette is as basic as you can possibly get...even more basic since she has no hair! hope to see you develop her even more!

I agree with Slosh, push the silhouette. Set this murderous babe apart from the rest. Nice concept so far.

Any suggestions? I have worked this character for a while and have found that simplicity is what works best for her. If I push the Silhouette any more I have found that it tends to look way too over the top. The problem I find with most designs is that it's like throwing shit at a well and seeing what sticks. I think it's hard to believe a stealth assassin to be that if she is cluttered by a bunch of useless shit that would just get in the way. For example Lara Croft's simple design but works well and has stood the test of time with a simple Silhouette. I'm really trying to stay away from the idea of just doing another World of Warcraft or Gears of War character. But, I do think limits should be pushed, but always in the name of good design.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thank's guys.

This may help to define the Silhouette further.

You're definitely right on the design issue. There shouldn't be anything on a character that doesn't have a purpose. After looking at her, I'd have to agree that she really doesn't NEED anything else. You've got some interesting subtle things that break up to the silhouette like the 2 sticks on her back, that slight little spike that the outfit makes near her neck, and even the undulation on her right upper arm. On top of that, silhouette, while most important, is not the only important thing - the shapes you have on her via the oufit is very nicely done. I tried to think of something that would change her silhouette, and as of now I cant think of anything valid, at least not without seeing the front of her. Either way, she'll be cool.

I know what you mean about trying to avoid over-designing the character Phoenix, that's cool.

Maybe some tattoos and/or designs painted onto her clothing would add more interest? If she's a knife-chick/assassin you could try giving her some scars. Tribal scars would be sweet. smile.gif Also, I'd play around with some weapon design concepts, keep their functionality, just make them look a bit more exotic. For a character like this, I'd want pretty unique weapons that aren't too overbearing. There's a few brain-farts for you.

    Thanks NuclearWarrior and WhiteEagle.
As far as tattoos go i think that they are so overplayed. when in doubt, add tattoos! But, I think that the scares thing is a great idea but something I would want to keep subtle(to a point) I think that I might give her a shit ton of little sliced scares all around and maybe a few deep scares. My reasoning behind that would be simply that through out her life she had spent a long time training and obviously there would be a few accidents.
    Thanks again

i understand the reasoning behind the design but i still feel like she could use a little more interest. then again, if you add some cool details in the texture, i guess that could work just as effectively.

I think that with this design, it's entire success will rely on the final texturing. I have thought about this alot and I know that it's ultimate success or failure will depend on the scene she stands on which will have to show her using her power. Uhhh It's gonna be along month and a half.

I think the idea of scars is a good direction. If anything you could try tribal scarring:

It could give her a bit of extra detail without being blatantly obvious like a tattoo.

    ohhhh man, she wants it...

is that popped colar gonna be fabric or something for protection...cause that would be awesome if it was a thick leather, and make it kind of slope from her shoulder to her ear line. so one side of the head is rounded off in the silauette (sp no good) and the other side is straight...just an idea.

i like it a lot though

I understand what you mean about not over-designing the character, especially with a class such as an assasin. But, it is a 'fantasy' so our hero's can really do or be what they like, just depends on how realistic you wanna go smile.gif

I like the tattoo ideas that others suggested. With the silhouette down, perhaps enhancing her facial features could make the character stronger. Depending on what you want to go for, she could be pushed to be more of a hardcore fem fetal or possibly have more serious slit-your-throat-in-the-darkness look (this is what she seems to have going on right now). Maybe some sort of facial mask or something that covers everything but her eyes? Perhaps she wants to conceal her features to be less recognizable? Although it might be harder to play her off as a female (aside from breasts and curves) with a hairless head.

    Can't wait to see more!
