Bit of an update here
Its artifact is the mask, which I'm envisioning as marking it as an ally of nature, to the point that twigs never snap underfoot, and any concealment is aided by the ground itself etc. I also imagine it as a mark of the beings which made it, denoting it as the instrument of their will.
Roughing out my 3d currently, getting the basic muscle structure figured out, and throwing in rough versions of the chitinous plates.
Update yet again, moving into Zbrush, trying to keep pace with the guy next to me. Trying to sort out the machanics of the character's muscles and joints etc, and general detailing of course. Still unsure how I'm going to incorporate the carapace sections.
Here's my latest sculpt after a revisiting of my basemesh to accomodate the plates etc. Working on the mask and daggers next, leaving the rest of my detailing and such until after I solve those.
