this is my first digital painting ever. I heard about dominance war and figured I would participate. Im only 12 so any slack will be appreciated....still; I need the critiques.
well for starters at least your trying and posting, thats more than most people do. I would say start with solid black and work out a shilloute of your character, then come back in with white or grey and and in some of the harder edges of were the detail is. Also working in layers is a great thing if your in photoshop. make sure to check your proportion, you ended up leting the end of your page shorten the legs of your dude, if that happens just resize the image. Keep at it, drawing is one of those things that the more you do it the better the results!!! just like working out, it doesnt happen over night.
good effort! great that your taking this opportunity to get ur stuff out there. i agree with roshambo that doing silhouette first is a good idea...this just helps to get a lot of ideas on paper...basically this would be like what you have above, only in black and white. you just draw out different shapes for characters to see what you can come up with. when u do these silhouettes, dont just stick to normal human form, go crazy with all sorts of whacky creatures! also, if you want to improve your proportions, find some photos and use them for reference..this always helps. keep up the good work and i hope to see more of your stuff here!
